      Coltman Academy Preschool

  • Small class size.  Student to teacher ratio is 6 to 1

  • Montessori Based Program.  Our daily schedule in preschool typically consists of a short free-time when the children first arrive, welcome-time, (which includes songs, our letter and number focus of the week and calendar). We also have workbook time, craft-time, learning game-time, table time center, dry erase, workbooks, letter practice, writing without tears, chalk board time, games, creative-playtime, snack-time, and reading-time.

  • ASL (American Sign Language): As a parent of a daughter who is hard of hearing, and with a minor in Deaf education, I have included ASL as part of our preschool curriculum. Students will learn basic, age appropriate signs.

  • Lessons planned to fit each student and their level of learning.

  • Make an appointment to take a tour.

-Preschool can be beneficial to all 4-year-old students, who will be entering Kindergarten the following year. They enter kindergarten with confidence and a greater understanding of how school works, as well as a knowledge of academic subjects.

-How does a parent know if their 3-year-old is ready for preschool?

If they...

1. Can handle separation.

2. Follow directions.

3. Communicate clearly.

4. Interact with other children.

5. Demonstrate some independence.

6. Can use restroom by themselves. (Students must be potty trained, occasional accident is normal)
